Welcome New IDS Members!

IDS is pleased to welcome our new members Jake Goldsmith, Lidia Taylor, Annie Rogers, Jessica Brown, and Deborah Albright. Jake Goldsmith (pictured above) has been riding since he was 4 but seriously for the past 5 years. Jake is 17 and will be entering his senior year of high school this fall. His mother, Kris, is a nurse who grew up in Downers Grove, IL.   Jake was born in NC and he and Kris moved to Indy 5 years ago from Los Angeles. Jake is a hunter-jumper at heart but Kris feels that “Dressage is the best way to teach both my horse and son balance and control.” Jake rides a 9-year-old OTTB named “Minty.” Welcome Jake (and Kris)!

Debbie Albright joined IDS to support the western dressage movement and the organization.  Debbie has been riding since the age of 5 and, at the age of 66 years young, she is still riding. A few years- or decades – ago, Debbie decided to try eventing and was “forced” to learn dressage at that time.  She was a member of IDS for a few years when the organization was relatively young, and competed in dressage with three different horses as a member of Nick and Linda Heiny’s stable in Carmel back in the 1970’s. Debbie’s goals at this time are mainly to improve and compete with her horses through the kids she has helped in 4H and thereafter. She reports she is also enjoying learning about natural horsemanship and how it relates to other forms of riding.  Debbie is a native of Louisville, KY.  She has four horses at this time, a pony, a 31-year-old Appendix QH, a QH, who competes in Western Dressage, and an in-training Appaloosa.  the Appaloosa is just being trained and the quarter horse competes in western dressage.  Debbie has one daughter, Johanna, who has competed in “regular” dressage as well as western dressage and has been in 4-H in the past.  Debbie has assisted IDS member Terry Luley in putting on the Noblesville Dressage show every year.  Welcome, or should we say “Welcome back”, Debbie!

Lidia showing “Ivan” at the April 2018 Confederation for Working Equitation show in OK.

Lidia Taylor recently relocated to Indiana from Oklahoma, where she is a member of Central Plains Dressage Society. Lidia is originally from Russia and has been riding since she was 12 years-old. Lidia rides “Ivan,” a 17-year-old Shire cross that I bought sight unseen. He was a trail horse in Montana his entire life.” Since they became partners in 2014, Lydia introduced him to the dressage work and they showed in all dressage-based sports: traditional dressage, Western Dressage and Working Equitation. Lidia reports that, “I am blessed with a very supportive family that makes it possible for me to travel to teach (Lidia teaches riding lessons and conducts clinics), and to continue my own education at various seminars. My husband Jack drives, we have 3 children, a 15-year-old boy, and girls 9 and 4 years old.” Lidia has earned her  “L” judge and TD for the Confederation of Working Equitation, is a graduate of the Western Dressage Association of America‘s Train the Trainers program, and has earned certifications in the American Riding Instructor’s Association. Welcome to IDS, Lidia!
