Lynn Palm Western Dressage Principles Clinic

IDS is excited to announce our first Western Dressage clinic with Lynn Palm. This Western Dressage Principles clinic will give 10 riders the chance to learn from an international-level clinician and competitor.

Friday, August 2nd
5:30 Welcome, questions & answers for all things Western Dressage

Saturday, August 3rd
9:00 Three Horse & Rider Fundamentals and Working Gaits for All Breeds of Western Dressage Horses
10:30-12:30 Group 2 Ride, Group 1 Audit. Evaluate position and assess use of aids through accuracy of figures.
12:30-1:30 Lunch
1:30-3:30 Group 1 Ride, Group 2 Audit. Evaluate position and geometry of arena through simple transitions.

Sunday, August 4th
9:00 Review the third fundamental of developing a horse’s self-carriage and Balance.
10:30-12:30 Group 2 Ride, Group 1 Audit. Correct and accurate test using figures and transitions while controlling the horse’s balance.
12:30-1:30 Lunch
1:30-3:30 Group 1 Ride, Group 2 Audit. Correct and accurate test using figures and transitions while controlling the horse’s balance.
4:00 Conclusion: final questions and recommended follow-up training

Lynn Palm

About Lynn Palm

For more than 50 years Lynn Palm has championed the partnership of horse and rider. An international clinician and competitor, she travels extensively teaching the fundamentals of Palm Equestrian Academy throughout the country and abroad.

Palm is an American Quarter Horse Association judge and holds her USEF R Western Dressage Judge’s License. She continues to compete in both the United States Dressage Federation and the Western Dressage Association of America. Palm’s competition record is second to none, having earned 4 AQHA Superhorse titles, over 30 AQHA World and Reserve Championships, several AQHA European Championships, more than a dozen WDAA World Championships, 15 USDF All Breed Awards Champions and most recently the Dressage and Western Dressage Championships at the AQHA World Show.

With her partner of 16 years, Rugged Lark, Lynn was a special guest performer at the 1996 Olympics and was named 2000 AQHA Female Equestrian of the Year by the Women’s Sports Foundation. In 2003 she was the recipient of Equine Affaire’s Exceptional Equestrian Educator Award, and she was titled Horsewoman of the year in 2007 by the American Quarter Horse Association. In 2010, she presented at the World Equestrian Games as a clinician and entertainer and did the same at the 2017 FEI World Cup Finals in Omaha. In 2023 Lynn was named as an US Equestrian Medal of Honor recipient.

Lynn and her husband, Cyril Pittion-Rossillon, lead their annual European Journeys and she presents Winning Ways with Western Dressage alongside Marie-Frances Davis. Lynn is also an author who frequently contributes articles to leading equine publications along with an activity online community.
